Rioja is a genuine melting pot of climates, valleys, terrains, municipalities, landscapes, grape varieties and colours, hardly comparable to other regions. Centuries of grape growing in these landscapes and climates forged the mastery of the blending technique and the creation of red wine styles aged in highly consistent casks, which have been widely recognised and are true global benchmark. However, leaving out the huge variety of methods and style of red wines, geographical areas, white, rosé and sparkling wines masterfully made in Rioja would be to offer a partial view of the Denomination. Rioja moves along with the times and today puts a new focus on displaying each and every one of the pieces that make up its puzzle, the region’s large diversity of terroirs and microclimates acquires even greater relevance with the recent incorporation of figures such as the wines from “Viñedo Singular” or “Vinos de Municipio”.
